Atresplayer presented this morning at the South International Series Festival the first two episodes of La Red Púrpura, its new original series and one of its big bets of the year. Directed by Paco Cabezas, and following the acclaimed La Novia Gitana (the first installment of the successful Carmen Mola saga), La Red Púrpura stars Nerea Barros. The cast includes names such as Ginés García Millán, Roberto Álamo, Ignacio Montes, Mona Martínez, Lucía Martín Abello, Vicente Romero, Francesc Garrido, Carlos Cabra and Carmen Prada, among others.

In the words of Paco Cabezas, “La Red Púrpura for me has been a privilege, because Atresplayer has given us a lot of creative freedom, and this has allowed us to make a series that manages to surpass the first part which was La Novia Gitana that the public liked so much,” said the director. “It is a series that is on the rise from the first episode to the last, which I think is one of the best I have shot in my life, so I am delighted to share it with the public of Cadiz and with this wonderful team.”

An enthusiasm shared by Nerea Barros, for whom “shooting La Red Púrpura and La Novia Gitana, so close to each other, has been the best experience of my life so far as an actress. It is my best work. I am super grateful to Atresplayer and Antena 3, to all the producers, who have given us so much freedom and have trusted us to create and three characters of real women who are there with their own identity such as Elena Blanco, Cheska or Mariajo, a hacker played by Mona Martínez… three characters of women who break schemes, for which we are infinitely grateful”.

La Red Púrpura is produced by Paramount Television International Studios, with the participation of Atresmedia Televisión, and in collaboration with Diagonal (Banijay Iberia). The series will be available exclusively in Spain through atresplayer. Last Sunday, October 8, the first chapter was released on the platform and every Sunday a new chapter will be released.

On the other hand, South International Series Festival has hosted this Wednesday the presentation of Anima Gemella, an Italian production that has arrived in Cadiz even before its premiere, scheduled for tonight, on Canale 5 in its country.

The production is produced by Endemol Shine Italy and RTI and tells the story of Carlo, a renowned surgeon who has lost his wife to an illness. When he finally manages to overcome this painful situation, he meets Nina who, in an apparent state of trance, utters a phrase that only Adele could have said to him, hinting at the possibility that his wife was murdered.

This first 54-minute episode has managed to capture the attention of viewers, who at the end of the screening were able to talk to the cast to learn all the details of the production. Among those attending the South were the two leading actors, Daniele Liotti (A Step from Heaven, Forgive me if I Call You Love) and Chiara Mastalli (Rome, Three Meters Above the Sky), who stressed that “Anima Gemella is an intense and special love story that goes beyond its appearance as a romantic comedy,” said Liotti. “The shooting was intense and we shot in Turin, Rome and on a lake in northern Italy for 20 weeks. My character is a doctor who has a very rational and pragmatic point of view on life, but he evolves as he crosses paths with Nina and her world, discovering a different way of living, of getting excited.”

For actress Chiara Mastalli, who plays Nina, “the shooting was a total experience, because it doesn’t stay on the surface of romantic comedy and touches on many genres. It is not just one story, but many that converge. It also has a great suspense content, so it’s impossible to get bored and you can have a great time.”

The production team, formed by Gianandrea Pecorelli, Angelo Florio and Daniele Cesarano, has highlighted the mix of genres, emphasizing the family character of the series, as well as the desire for Cadiz to act as a talisman and provide a good launching pad.

South International Series Festival is a private initiative sponsored by the Consejería de Turismo, Cultura y Deporte de la Junta de Andalucía, co-financed with European funds, Ayuntamiento de Cádiz, Diputación de Cádiz, and the participation of Mediaset España as main media sponsor. Also collaborating in this first edition are Movistar Plus+, Spain Film Commission, Fundación SGAE, Fundación Bancaria Unicaja and Canal Sur.
