The agreement is part of the action plan being developed by the entity to contribute to the consolidation of the Spanish Audiovisual Hub.
South Series and the Spain Film Commission establish a joint collaboration in the first edition of the Festival, which is set to become one of the biggest series events for the audiovisual industry in Southern Europe. Great Britain is the guest country in 2023 and its main focus is on how Spanish-language series are made and how they can be strengthened with actors, writers, producers, analysts, institutions from Spain, Latin America and the United States. Both entities share this strategic vision and have jointly organized a series of activities of interest to the audiovisual sector.
During the development of the specific programming for the industry, the Spain Film Commission is organizing the session “Tourism for Serializers: from the screen to the destination”, which will analyze the tourism impact that series filmed and broadcasted on a global scale have on the territories. Piluca Querol, from Andalucía Film Commission, Mike Villanueva from Castilla – La Mancha Film Commission and Raúl Torquemada from Madrid Film Office will participate, moderated by Ana Alonso, responsible for the Spain Screen Grand Tour project, promoted by SFC. It will take place on Tuesday, October 10 at 5 p.m. in Room 1 of the Palacio de Congresos.
On Wednesday, October 11 at 10 am, Carlos Rosado, president of SFC, together with Luis Cueto from Spain Audiovisual Hub and Fabia Buenaventura from ICEX, will participate in the session “Spanish in series/series in Spanish: Policies for the promotion and internationalization of the audiovisual industry”.
SFC’s activities at the South International Series Festival are part of the action plan that the entity has been developing to contribute to consolidate the Spanish Audiovisual Hub, one of our engines of economic reactivation launched by the Government of Spain. The plan, led by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation and articulated by the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructure, includes public investments and reforms to achieve a significant boost to the entire value chain of the audiovisual industry based on Spain’s strengths: a solvent audiovisual industry, talented and prestigious professionals, a creative capacity recognized worldwide and a comparative advantage in the growing global market for audiovisual production in Spanish.
According to Carlos Rosado, president of Spain Film Commission, “We support South International Series Festival because we are convinced that it covers a space for the analysis and promotion of the series in all its aspects. The fact that this event takes place in Cadiz also coincides with our mission of territorial diversification of the Audiovisual and Cadiz meets all the conditions to be a success due to the involvement of the citizens, its City Council, the Andalusian Government, among others”.
The Spain Film Commission is fully involved in the development of the Spanish Audiovisual Hub promoted by the Government and in the strengthening of the filming industry and, in the case of South Series, of Spanish and foreign fiction series. One of its main functions is to promote Spain as a filming destination for the audiovisual industry and professionals. Spain is a top-level destination for the industry and the filming of both Spanish and foreign fiction series stands out.
South International Series Festival is a private initiative sponsored by the Consejería de Turismo, Cultura y Deporte de la Junta de Andalucía, co-financed with European funds, Ayuntamiento de Cádiz, Diputación de Cádiz, and the participation of Mediaset España as main media sponsor. Also collaborating in this first edition are Movistar Plus+, Spain Film Commission, Fundación SGAE, Fundación Bancaria Unicaja and Canal Sur.
