South International Series Festival will inaugurate its first edition next Friday in Cadiz. The programming of the Official Fiction Section, which will open the doors of the Palacio de Congresos with
The Law of the Sea
with the presence of Luis Tosar o Eva Marciel among other well-known faces, is completed with ten docuseries premiering exclusively in Cádiz whose themes revolve around true crime, unusual discoveries, corruption, robberies or recent history.
The section begins with Malaya. Secret operation (Spain, produced by RTVE in collaboration with Atlantia Media), which reveals unpublished details of the Malaya Case, the largest operation against political and urban corruption ever carried out in Spain and one of the most mediatic in recent years.
In the same line of inquiry,
Bretón, La mirada del diablo
(Spain, produced by Cibeles Productions in co-production with RTVA) deals with the terrible case of the murder of two children in Córdoba that shocked public opinion.
In a very different register,
Macarena
(Spain, produced by Movistar Plus+ and Producciones del Barrio), wants to vindicate the importance of this international hit song of the same name by Los del Río on the occasion of its thirtieth anniversary. The performers themselves, Antonio Romero and Rafael Ruiz, will share their experiences with the song with the public.

Los Galindos
(Spain, produced by Mediaset España and Fénix Media) will shed light on five of the most cruel and inexplicable crimes in Spain’s black chronicle, which took place in the 1970s in the Galindos farmhouse. Rafa Guardiola (CEO Fénix Media Audiovisual SL), Pepa Sánchez-Biezma (director) and Marina García Torrús (scriptwriter) will attend the event in Cádiz.
The search for truth and justice is also at the center, from a different angle, On guard: women against crime (Spain, produced by Mediaset España and En Cero Coma, A Freemantle Label), a thriller about some of the most mediatic, complex and fascinating cases investigated and solved by elite female investigators of the Guardia Civil.

The Man Who Stole the Scream
(UK, produced by Curve Story), a British docuseries produced by Asif Kapadia, tells the story of the theft of one of the most iconic paintings in history, Edvard Munch’s The Scream, in 1994 and how, after an investigation involving an extensive international deployment, only one person was convicted: former professional footballer Pål Enger.
The end of the South Series will be linked to the next big event to be held in Cadiz: the Sail GP. The festival establishes synergies with the nautical competition, which takes over the following week and welcomes the premiere of a new episode of its series Sail GP. The Roosters Take Off (UK, produced by SailGP and P1 Entertainment). The series follows the Spanish team in the fourth season of the championship and shows the ins and outs of the competition and its protagonists in and out of the water.

Tickets for series screened in the Official Fiction, Non-Fiction and Panorama sections are priced at 4 euros. Access to the Joyas and En el sur sections is free of charge until full capacity is reached, with prior reservation on the festival’s website. Unemployed persons, retired persons and students will have free admission, which can be requested at the festival’s ticket offices. In order to purchase tickets, they must present documentation proving their personal situation and they will only be allowed to request one ticket per session. From October 3, the physical box office will be located in the Palacio de Congresos of the capital of Cadiz, which will be open from 10:30 to 14:30 and from 16:30 to 20:30 hours. Only unemployed persons, retired persons and students (university, higher education and professional schools) may apply for tickets at this physical ticket office, provided they can duly prove their status.
