Carla Guimaraes

Carla Guimarães was born in Brazil and has lived in Madrid since 2001. Degree in Social Communication and PhD in “Theory, History and Practice of Theater”. Journalist for Agencia EFE and contributor to the newspaper El País. He worked as a scriptwriter for channels such as HBO, RTVE and ViX. He wrote the screenplays for the feature films: “Estranhos” (Brazil, Araça Azul, 2015), “O Filho da Puta” (Brazil, Otto Desenhos, in production) and “Los Invitados” (Laboratorio Sgae de Cine Fantástico, 2016). Together with Pepe Macías, he developed the series “¿Por qué desaparecieron los hombres?” for RTVE. He also wrote plays such as “La increíble historia de la chica que llegó la ultima”, which was nominated for Best Playwright at the 2014 Max Theater Awards. She is the author of the novels “Los últimos días de carnaval” (2014) and “Peces que llueven del cielo” (2016), published in Spain by Ediciones Ambulantes. He is currently developing the drama series “Cuatro Caminos” with screenwriter Azucena Rodríguez for El Deseo and the documentary “El silencio de la Tierra” for Diagonal.
