Successful series. Is there a magic formula that works?

An actress by vocation, she began working in advertising at a young age, studying at the Carlos Lasarte School, and then made the leap to television with the fiction series “Secrets of the Family” for TV3. She studied at the Nancy Tuñon School of Theatre and attended professional classes with Cristina Rota, Coraza and Raquel Pérez.

She made her cinema debut with Carlos Saura in Taxi, a film that established her as one of the most promising actresses of her generation. From that moment on, she worked for renowned directors such as Imanol Uribe in ‘Extraños’, Manuel Gutierrez Aragón in ‘Visionarios’, Mario Camus in ‘La playa de los Galgos’, Vicente Aranda in ‘Tirante el blanco’, Manuel Huerga in ‘Salvador Puig Antich’ and Achero Mañas in ‘Noviembre’.

Her performance in Más allá del Jardín won her the Goya Award for Best New Actress, followed by a Special Jury Mention at the 44th San Sebastian International Film Festival for Taxi.

She has also established a solid career in Argentinean cinema, starring in films by renowned directors such as Daniel Burman (Todas las azafatas van al cielo) and Eduardo Mignogna (El Faro), for which she received the Silver Condor Award for Best Actress.

 

Estíbaliz Burgaleta

Writer and scriptwriter. Throughout her career she has written for television series such as “Velvet”, “Las chicas del cable”, “Tiempos de guerra”, “Seis Hermanas” and “Zorras”, among others. She created the series “Tú no eres especial”, broadcast on Netflix, and was the coordinator of the Spanish adaptation of “Skam” for Movistar. Her latest work is “Las largas sombras” for Disney+. She currently combines her work as a scriptwriter and tutor for the ECAM Master’s Degree in Fiction Series Scriptwriting.

 

Montse Garcia

Montse García is currently the Director of Fiction at Atresmedia TV, where she is in charge of highly successful national and international series such as ‘La Ruta’, ‘Alba’, ‘La Cocinera de Castamar’, ‘Entre Tierras’, ‘La Novia Gitana’ or ‘Cristo y Rey’, among others.

She joined Atresmedia TV in 2020, after holding the position of Executive Director at the production company Diagonal TV, from the Banijay Iberia Group. Throughout her career, she has specialized in television fiction, participating in the development and production of titles such as ‘La Señora’ (TVE), ‘Isabel’ (TVE), ‘Sin Identidad’ (Antena 3), ‘La Catedral del Mar’ (Antena 3) and ‘Matadero’ (Antena 3). She also participated in the production of the film ‘La librería’, directed by Isabel Coixet, Goya Award for Best Film in 2018. She is also responsible for the delivery and continuity of the series ‘Love in Scrambled Times’ (TVE), renewing and adapting the Atresmedia format as ‘El amor es para siempre’. She specialized in television production in Los Angeles at the studios of SPTI (Sony Television Productions International), covering all areas that make up the audiovisual production of fiction. She later joined the SPTI Group (Sony Television Productions International) as Production Manager and Delegate for Spain, where she participated in the adaptation of television formats for Sony Spain, such as Los Simuladores (Cuatro), Matrimonio con hijos (Cuatro), Mesa para cinco (Telecinco) and De Moda (Forta). As head of production at Globomedia Televisión, she produced some of the first prime-time shows in Spain, such as Más que amigos (Telecinco), Compañeros (Antena 3) and Abogados (Telecinco) with Boca-Boca Producciones. Her expertise and professional skills are the driving force behind her objectives to support and create new projects and formats, focusing on a range of commercial and quality fiction linked to the various broadcasting options currently available.

 

 

Juliana Barrera

Cúcuta, Colombia.

Social communicator from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá. With more than 25 years of experience in the audiovisual industry, she has been a creator, executive producer and showrunner of series for Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Disney +, Nickelodeon, Fox International Channels and Caracol TV. She was Creative Director of New Business for Caracol TV and Head of Content for The Mediapro Studio Colombia and Mexico. Since 2021 she is based in Spain, where she has worked as Director of Original Series for Netflix Spain and Executive Producer and International Development for the audiovisual group Izen.

 

Mariola Cubells

Journalist and communicator. Audiovisual analyst at La Ventana and other radio programmes on Cadena Ser. She collaborates with TV3 and Catalunya Radio as a television expert, writes about television, feminism and pop culture in El País, SModa and the Huffington Post and directs the thought and entertainment forum Conservatorio. She regularly participates in talks, conferences and round tables related to her profession. Author of five books on television, she has just published with Espasa, Mejor que nunca, a chronicle of women born in the 1960s.
