Santa Catalina Castle

A FORTIFICATION LOCATED NEXT TO THE BEACH OF THE CREEK

The castle of Santa Catalina is a fortification built in Cadiz, between the late sixteenth and early sixteenth century. XVII, commissioned by King Philip II, after the Anglo-Dutch sack of the city in 1596.

A representation of military architecture of the Modern Age in a privileged enclave, between the beach and the sea, work of the architect Cristóbal de Rojas, who knew how to execute the protective wishes of the monarch.

Currently, the fortress has been transformed into a cultural and leisure space and, during the South Series, it will become our natural photocall for the guests and teams of the series programmed in the festival and will host the opening and closing galas of this edition.
