The festival will observe a minute’s silence at the screening of

in solidarity with the deceased and their families.
Cadiz, October 9, 2023 – The management of the South Festival has decided to suspend the red carpet scheduled for the evening of Monday, October 9, as a sign of mourning for the accident that occurred early in the afternoon, in which at least three people have died, according to official sources to date, and several remain in serious condition.
The accident took place on Avenida de las Cortes de Cádiz, very close to the Palacio de Congresos, the official venue of the festival, when a bus lost control and ran over several people.
The City Council of Cadiz has decreed three days of official mourning and the South Festival joins these events with the suspension of its red carpet and a minute of silence that will take place at the beginning of the 21:00 screening of Serrines, madera de actor.
The South Festival team would like to express its condolences to the families and friends of the deceased and its support to the health and emergency services.
