Thursday, October 24, 2024. The red carpet will be rolled out in the Tacita de Plata until October 31: South International Series Festival starts tomorrow Friday, October 25, its second edition at the Palacio de Congresos de Cádiz, with the first screenings, its inaugural Gala, the first red carpet and the awarding of the SISF Honorary to the multifaceted and award-winning actress María Adánez. With La vida breve, Acoustic Home, Luz en la oscuridad and Las noches de Tefía, the Festival will kick off a week full of meetings between the public, the industry and recognized faces of the sector, with the millenary city as a witness. The last tickets for each of its events can be purchased at southseriesfest.com The kick-off of the first day of South International Series Festival, this Friday, October 25, will take place on the beach of “La Caleta”, where every morning actors, directors, producers, screenwriters and many other representatives of the series and theaudiovisual sector will immortalize their passage through Cadiz with a photo to remember, in one of the most iconic places of the city.

Every day will continue at the Palacio de Congresos in Cádiz, a space where this Friday, in addition to the daily activities for the press, you can enjoy the presentations of Acoustic Hombre, starting at 17:30h, belonging to the section Jewels and with the presence of its director, Alexis Morante, its executive producer, Orestes Sánchez, and the protagonist of one of its chapters, Niña Pastori from Cádiz. At 20:00h it will be the turn for the world premiere of Luz en la oscuridad, with the participation of Carles Porta, creator and director; Guillermo Cascante, producer of Goroka Producciones; Marijo Larrañaga, producer of Movistar+; and Pablo Masó, producer and CEO of True Crime Factory. Only 15 minutes later, but in Hall 3 of the Palacio de Congresos, the second screening of the Joyas section can be enjoyed , which on this occasion will be Las noches de Tefía, a project by Atresmedia. Apart from these three screenings, at 6 p.m. the first of the red carpets that will take place every night of the Festival will start at the door of the Palace , with the stars of the day passing by every day. Javier Gutierrez, Leonor Watling, Carlos Scholz, Niña Pastori, Malcolm Treviño, Urko Olazabal, Paco Tous, Toñi Moreno, Alexis Morante, Carles Porta, Esteban Crespo, Jon Arretxe, Ángeles González Sinde, Javier Gurruchaga, Enrique Fortún, Paloma Bloyd, Ana Garcés, Ken Appledorn or Félix Gómez are just some of the famous faces that will pass through the carpet on the first night. The multifaceted actress María Adánez will also walk the carpet, who will receive the “Honorary SISF Award” inside the Auditorium of the Palacio de Congresos at 7:30 p.m., in recognition of her career in the world of serials. This award will be presented during the Opening Gala, an event that will be hosted by such well-known faces as Elena Furiase, Daniel Grao and María Bestar, who, during this opening event, will also give way to different surprises and even performances.

 

Cadiz, world capital of the series

 

The second edition of the Festival will turn Cadiz, once again, and for 7 days, into the world capital of series, with an extensive program that includes 5 sections out of competition and two sections -fiction and non-fiction- in the competition section, the main novelty of South International Series Festival 2024, on its competitive nature, but also maintaining the opportunity for the audience to vote after each screening for the best fiction and non-fiction series. In this II edition, the jury will be chaired in the fiction category by the expert in audiovisual media and executive director of Betaseries, Rémi Tereszkiewicz, accompanied by actress Ana Torrent, screenwriter and director Ramón Salazar, producer Juan Parodi and the screenwriter and president of DAMA,

Virginia Yagüe. In the non-fiction category, Spanish screenwriter and film director and current president of the Royal Board of Trustees of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Ángeles González Sinde, will preside over a panel of experts made up of producer and screenwriter Sofía Squittieri and screenwriter and director Julio Rojas. In addition to the 2 audience awards, the “Audience Award for Best Fiction Series” and the “Audience Award for Best Non-Fiction Series“, the jury will announce on the morning of October 31 which series will receive the 2 awards for the “Non-Fiction” category, which are the “Award for Best Non-Fiction Series” and the “Special Jury Award for Non-Fiction Series“; in addition to the 3 awards for the series participating in “Fiction” (Fiction).

As a novelty, it will also be announced on October 31 which project will win the “Andalucía South Boost Award”, which will be evaluated by the Jury of the section, formed by the deputy director of RTVA Isabel Cabrera; the director of Fiction of Movistar+, Manuela Ocón; the director of the Navarra Film Commission, Sara Sevilla; and the general director of Unicorn Content, Xelo Montesinos . The Obituarist created by Francisco Artacho and produced by Inés Nofuentes; the geographical thriller El Puerto, created by Lisi Linder, Mamén Camacho, Andrea del Río and Irene Ferrándiz and produced by Ricard Sales; the black comedy miniseries Hotel Paraíso created by Vanesa de la Haza and produced by Salvador Yagüe and Olmo Figueredo; the historical thriller The Rock created by Rocío Sepúlveda and produced by Teresa Segura; and the docuseries Paleofuturo created by Ángel Tirado, produced by Gorka Mata and Víctor Fernández. The jury of the section is made up only of women and there is parity between the creators of the projects presented. South International Series Festival is a private initiative, co-financed by the Feder Andalucía 2021-2027 Program and the Junta de Andalucía, with the City Council of Cádiz and the Diputación de Cádiz as official entities.
