On July 22, 1975, five people, three men and two women, were violently murdered on the Los Galindos estate in the Sevillian town of Paradas, a case that became time-barred in 1995 and that almost 50 years later remains unsolved. The investigation of the event is the central axis of ‘El Marqués’, a new Mediaset España fiction inspired by these events that shocked our country at the end of the Franco regime and that combines secrets, ambition, intrigue and romance in its plot.

This six-episode series, currently being shot and of which Mediaset España has offered a first preview today at the South International Series Festival, brings together in its cast José Pastor, Víctor Clavijo, Óscar de la Fuente, Cinta Ramírez, Lara Grube, Paco Tous, Juan Fernández, Joaquín Núñez, Ibrahim Al Shami, Laura Baena and Adelfa Calvo, among other performers.

Ignacio del Moral (winner of the Goya for Best Adapted Screenplay for ‘The Adventures of Tadeo Jones’ in 2013 and nominated for the Goya for Best Original Screenplay for ‘Los lunes al sol’ in 2003) and Begoña Álvarez (‘Desaparecidos. La serie’ and ‘Skam’) are the creators of this dramatic tale, produced in collaboration with Unicorn Content, directed by Begoña Álvarez and José Ramón Ayerra and with screenplay by Ignacio del Moral himself and David Planell (winner of the Golden Biznaga Award at the Malaga Film Festival for ‘La vergüenza’, his directorial debut in 2009). El Marqués’ has the collaboration of the Carmona Film Office and the Seville City Office of Media and its main locations are the Andalusian towns of Carmona, Alcalá de Guadaira, Mairena del Alcor, Seville and Huelva, as well as several enclaves in Ceuta, Madrid and Barcelona.

In the auditorium of the Palacio de Congresos, the presentation of Bribones also took place, a series that, according to its team, is a departure from what we are used to from Mediaset, the production company, and which is currently in the process of shooting.

Bribones is a socio-cultural information platform with more than 25 years of experience and international recognition and, through this series, we will be able to witness the work they carry out. Those attending the event were able to see an exclusive preview and hear from the protagonists about the filming of this adventure documentary series. “The cameramen had to know about climbing or sea immersion,” said Jimmy Sola, the executive producer, who pointed out that the most attractive thing for him in this project was to create something where the protagonists do not compete, but work as a team for a common goal “The codes and principles are common. There is discipline, companionship… teamwork, respect, nature, principles or getting out of the ego, are some of the main values we wanted to share by making this series”.

Jesús Sotomayor, the Cadiz-born director of this project, has announced that one of the chapters that we will be able to enjoy in this series was filmed in Cádiz. “There are many corners to discover. Many cultures have passed through, we have many years of antiquity and so many civilizations have passed through here. The rascals had to come.”

Finally, Arcadio Noriega, head of the Bribones group, took the floor to express that the adventure of this series is not the end, but the channel to make the heritage known, and the means through which to engage a young audience so that they can learn about their history.

South International Series Festival is a private initiative sponsored by the Consejería de Turismo, Cultura y Deporte de la Junta de Andalucía, co-financed with European funds, Ayuntamiento de Cádiz, Diputación de Cádiz, and the participation of Mediaset España as main media sponsor. Also collaborating in this first edition are Movistar Plus+, Spain Film Commission, Fundación SGAE, Fundación Bancaria Unicaja and Canal Sur.
