South International Series Festival and Canal Sur sign collaboration agreement in Cádiz

The festival ratifies its commitment to the Andalusian sector through the section In the South

South International Series Festival and Canal Sur have signed in Cadiz a collaboration agreement that strengthens the commitment of the festival with the Andalusian radio and television and with the international projection of series made in Andalusia or with Andalusian production. The event was attended by José Carlos Conde, Chairman of South’s Management Committee, and Juande Mellado, General Manager of CSRTV. On behalf of RTVA, have also been the director of Innovation, Business and Communication, Juan Vargas, the territorial director of Canal Sur Cadiz, Javier Benitez.

Canal Sur will be present at the South International Series Festival of Cádiz, in the official non-fiction section, in En el Sur and in Avances, where it will show previews of some of the series that will premiere in the coming months on its television channels, and will present the on-demand digital content platform CanalSur Más. According to the agreement signed between Canal Sur and the festival, in addition to actively participating in the exhibition, the Andalusian public broadcaster will support its dissemination by giving preferential attention in its information spaces and programs.

The Official Non-Fiction Section will be opened by Canal Sur with the screening of the first chapter of Bretón, la mirada del diablo, in which Canal Sur participates. Over the course of three installments, this miniseries deals with the case of the murder of two children in Córdoba at the hands of their father, an event that shocked the country.

On Monday, October 9, in the section En el Sur, Canal Sur will present 13 días, which tells the story of Julen, a two-year-old boy who fell into a prospecting well on a farm in the town of Totalán, in the province of Málaga. A story that kept the whole of Spain in suspense. The series, scripted and directed by Hernán Zin, is participated by Canal Sur.

On the same day, the on-demand content platform CanalSur Más will be presented, the most complete window of Andalusian cinema, which brings together the works of Andalusian audiovisual creators.

In the Previews section, three other documentary series in progress in which Andalusian radio and television is participating will be unveiled: Amparo, la mujer que supo decir que no; Sucedió en... and Y el verbo se hizo… Cádiz. Canal Sur will also have a stand in the exhibition area of the South International Series Festival of Cadiz, aimed at promoting the visibility and collaboration of creators and producers of the international audiovisual industry.

The South International Series Festival is born in a key place for the international production of series, such as Andalusia, where more than 1,300 audiovisual productions are shot every year, generating an economic impact of 118 million euros and more than 19,400 direct jobs, according to data from the Andalusia Film Commission. In this scenario, the Andalusian audiovisual sector enjoys a privileged moment of economic growth and creative development, thanks to a consolidated industrial fabric, professionals with a long trajectory and a rich and heterogeneous historical and natural set.

In the In the South section you will find the docuseries 548 days. Captured by a cult (Olmo Figueredo, José Ortuño, Disney+), the animated series Poor devil (HBO) with art direction by Manuel Sicilia (Rookyn Animation), the fiction production Grease (David Sainz, RTVE Play), the episode of the acclaimed international series Black Mirror, Mazey Dayfilmed in Andalusia with Fresco Films service or the webseries From the bottom (Joaquín Perles).
