Madrid, July 5, 2023. South International Series Festival, an event born with the aim of becoming a benchmark among series festivals and an industry that is experiencing unstoppable growth, has presented in Madrid the image of the poster of its first edition, designed by Ana Locking. In addition, those responsible for the event have advanced its main lines of programming.

For six days, from October 6 to 12, the capital of Cadiz will host the premiere of the great titles of the series season in 2024. And it will do so hand in hand with its protagonists in an event that promotes business for the industry and brings the general public closer to their idols.

“South Series is born to give more value to the series and to those who make them”, said in his speech the director of the event, Joan Álvarez. He highlighted the growing importance of this type of audiovisual productions both in the industry and among the public, and the need to complete the circuit of events dedicated to the sector with “a Class A festival that fills this gap. We have an extraordinary response from the industry, professionals, the public and institutions,” he added in his speech, thanking the entities and institutions present at the meeting held today in Madrid for their participation.

South Series has the main sponsorship of the Junta de Andalucía, through the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports; with the support of the City Council of Cádiz; and with Mediaset España as media partner. Also collaborating in this first edition are Movistar Plus+, Canal Sur Radio and Television and the Unicaja Banking Foundation.

Manuel Villanueva, General Director of Contents of Mediaset España, has highlighted that “Mediaset España’s alliance with the South Series International Festival reinforces our commitment to the audiovisual sector and the Spanish series production industry. For years, Mediterráneo Mediaset España Group has been producing fiction and non-fiction products with great success in different windows, both for our channels and platforms. These include series such as ‘Entrevías’, ‘La que se avecina’ and ‘El Pueblo’, with incredible results after passing through our channels, and documentaries such as ‘Dulceida al desnudo’ and ‘Influencers: Sobreviviendo a las redes’, in the top 10 for weeks after their premiere on platforms”.

The poster for this first edition represents “the light of the south, the color of the sun reflecting on the sea and the joy of Cadiz, the spirit of having fun, being passionate and living the festivities through vibrant colors; but, in addition, the poster conveys the multiculturalism of the stories of the series, so the elements are mixed and combined in a kind of puzzle,” he explained. Ana Locking.

Arturo BernalThe Andalusian Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, indicated that “it was essential to have a forum in which to debate, reflect and see where the audiovisual phenomenon of series is heading.
