ANDALUSIA AND THE AUDIOVISUAL INDUSTRY

Andalusia has been the setting for countless film and television productions. Its immeasurable cultural, architectural and natural wealth make this region a perfect place to set incredible locations and give birth to a filming industry that brings wealth to the region from the very first moment it starts. More than 1,300 audiovisual productions are shot each year in Andalusia, generating an economic impact of 118 million euros and more than 19,400 direct jobs.

The audiovisual sector in Andalusia enjoys a privileged moment of economic growth and creative development in this scenario, thanks to its professionals, industrial fabric and a heterogeneous natural and patrimonial set. An industry that has experienced exponential growth in recent years, both for its professionals and its industrial fabric.

Thus, in addition to a heterogeneous natural and heritage backdrop that attracts major international blockbusters, such as Black Mirror, the Andalusian sector has stood out with witty and hooligan productions, such as Pobre Diablo, with art direction and animation from Andalusia; outstanding productions among the best of the Disney+ platform, such as 548 days. Captured by a cult or fiction series such as Grasa, which consolidate the trajectory of production companies such as Diffferent Entertainment, which began its career with its own production of a webseries.

The aim of the South International Series Festival is to reflect the richness of Andalusian production and to serve as a privileged place of professional and business exchange for Andalusian audiovisual production companies, as well as a showcase for Andalusian productions in development and completed. And it takes place in Cadiz, an ideal location to become one of the capitals of the international audiovisual industry. A city that has historically favored cultural exchange between Spain and the rest of the world. And a province with a diverse landscape to welcome the audiovisual sector and foster business and cultural exchange.

South International Series Festival is a private initiative sponsored by the Consejería de Turismo, Cultura y Deporte de la Junta de Andalucía, co-financed with European funds, Ayuntamiento de Cádiz, Diputación de Cádiz, and the participation of Mediaset España as main media sponsor. Also collaborating in this first edition are Movistar Plus+, Spain Film Commission, Fundación SGAE, Fundación Bancaria Unicaja and Canal Sur.
